Boston Book Festival 2013

It's a testament to how unconnected I am with the world: there is a yearly Boston Book Festival, and I had no idea.  It's put on by my favorite place ever (the Boston Public Library) and takes place primarily in the Copley Square area.  I know I'm a little late on the uptake, but the Festival starts on October 17 (tomorrow) and goes until the 19th (Saturday).  The Festival is full of panels, talks, and exhibits and would be the perfect event for anyone with any sort of interest in books (whether reading or writing them, whether fiction or non).

Since I work all day Thursday and Friday, as I'm sure many of you do as well, going to the events scheduled for those days is pretty much out of the question.  However, there are panels and speakers all through Saturday, and I'm planning on making a day of it.  Some of the events require tickets ($), but many of them are free and open to the public.  I'm leaning towards the panels on Shakespeare and Leadership (with Richard Olivier) and Historical Fiction.  They have a list of all the events on 10/19, but many of them overlap, so you might have to make some difficult decisions.

Also, on the 19th from 10am-5pm, there will be a ton of exhibitors that you can visit.  These range from "independent publishers and literary magazines to performance companies, arts organizations, media outlets, food vendors, and even a kids area."  I recommend seeing a panel or two in the morning, grabbing lunch, and attending some of the later panels.  You really can make a whole day's trip out of it.

Here's their website, which lists panels, speakers, exhibitors, times, and ticketing information for everything that's going on:

Like I said, I'm shooting for a Saturday visit now, and I'll obviously have more information about the actual events then.  But, in the meantime, has anyone attended the BBF before?  How was it?
